Colouring Very Much Outside The Lines!
Through Instagram, we have come across some lovely baby & toddler businesses, captivated by their insta feeds of fun stylish shots. If you take a peek at Loopy Kooper's instagram its easy too see why we were attracted to her colourful, arty fun page!
Lucy, founder of Loopy Kooper, is pictured below at her desk hand drawing her GIANT colouring sheet designs, ready for printing. She started Loopy Kooper like many creative parents, when a gap in the market sparked an idea (in her case, a lack of fun interesting colouring materials for her son, Will, now aged 6). So Lucy began designing her own giant colouring sheets herself, to keep Will still for longer than 30 seconds (her words not mine)! Lucy kindly send us some of her giant sheets to entertain the troops at BabyLoved HQ.
Wow... when we first opened our lovely package delivered from Loopy Kooper we were all extremely excited to be greeted with such stylish packaging and COLOUR! These giant posters are so well wrapped and make you feel cheery before you've seen whats inside!
We had a go at the colouring ourselves - Wilfie (Aged 2.5) invited Sammy (Aged 3.5) over to play and the two of them set to work on the Loopy Kooper 'favourite things' sheet.
There were so many ways to use the sheet. We started firstly just looking, pointing and naming things Wilfie and Sammy recognised. It was great for encouraging talking between the pair, and between us parents and the twosome. They then started playing 'spot the.....', colouring as they went along. It was great for identifying letters and objects. And as both testers could colour the same 'favourite thing' in together, it meant for zero 'sharing related dramas'. Colouring is usually quite a solo activity for many children, probably why Wilfie has never lasted too long doing it before, but he did enjoy moving around the sheet, being active, stopping to think, and then making his mark on the doodle sheet. A great activity to do with friends, and then to come back to later. Leaving the giant sheet out in our playroom, meant that Wilfie could keep coming back to it, a little bit like he eats his food, 'interval colouring'! We used a range of colouring equipment, but it is lovely for a gift that Loopy Kooper does provide 5 bright pencil crayons with each order of a poster. For £9.99, it would be a really great gift to give as a little project for a friend. Unlike many colouring books/sheets, it is a project that children can keep coming back to which we really liked. And we love that the designs are interesting enough to keep adults entertained. Myself and Martha (Sammy's Mama) also enjoyed putting our best colouring skills to work with the toddlers on this project!
Like lots of small businesses, Lucy (AKA Loopy Kooper), designs, prints and packages all of her goodies alongside holding down another day job. She does what she does because she's not only super skilled in the creative realm (with a textile degree), she also runs her own messy play activities. She really does live and breathe what she does which transfers through to the throughtful considered details from her designs, to her service, to her beautiful packaging.
You can purchase your own Loopy Kooper giant colouring sets, colouring birthday cards and other fun hand made cards from Lucy's Folksy shop. As a BabyLoved follower, reader and super supporter, Lucy would love to offer you 20% off her online shop using the code BABYLOVEDUK (it's active now for a limited time). Can't say fairer than that! We can't wait to see what Lucy has up her sleeve next.
